Tricks and Treats

Alex the Monkey, Hendrick the Dino, Emma the Butterfly, Annie the Kitty Cat, and Mya the Bunny

Yesterday was our Halloween Playdate Party. The kiddos dressed up and we brought yummy treats. It was fun, except the trick my lil monkey played on me...no nap all morning! So the party was not as fun as it could have been for Alex. But he loves being there so much, he really was a trooper! Too bad when it came for picture time he was not in the best mood and I had just taken his ears off.
*So yes, America voted and the Team Isaacson Halloween poll helped put Alex in a monkey costume. I told Travis not to post those precious baby models bc it is only getting your hopes up. We did not purchase a 60$ costume- are you kidding me?! But ours does the job, right? The banana even squeaks!! I just wanted something lightweight seeing as it can be hot here no matter what season it is! :) Thank you to all of you out there who rocked the vote! Ha!
(BTW, I hate this picture. Come on Mom, pink background! What are ya doing?! I will get better ones later!)

I just got this one from Brandy. TOO FUNNY!!
My dirt pudding "graveyard" treat...I am so proud. I never get crafty like this. (Too bad the pumpkins look gi-normous!)
This has been my go-to dessert this month, as I took it to bible study too!

Jumping Bean

(sorry the video is so long!) I have been meaning to post this for a while... Alex learned how to jump and has found his passion! ha! He is thinking about going pro. Check out the skills. PRO.
He really cracks us up every time. The video is from a while ago even. He is really good at control now. It cracks me up that he yawns and then starts jumping again! and I love the spin around.
And he can go for forever!! I am talking 30 minutes of straight jumping!!
The drool is unstoppable when jumping...its out of control! and since there are no toys at hand, blowing bubbles is the obvious option for non-stop entertainment! He likes when I open the blinds on the back door so he can look out the window while bouncing. He also likes to have someone sitting nearby to talk to him and "cheer" him on. It is great for when I am getting ready for the day.
The only problem is that now he wants to jump all the time -if you are holding him and even when nursing. Those legs can't stop! I love my little bouncing boy!

Fun Foto Friday

We enjoyed the cold front that came in and the beautiful weather by going to the park yesterday. Alex got to wear his new hoodie it was so chilly! Too bad it was covering his eyes when I went to get him out of the stroller (once we were at the park)! Poor guy!! :) Who knows how long it was like that!? SUPER mom!

He loves to swing!

Weekend In The Woodlands

Well, we survived the car ride to The Woodlands and back. I didn't know if we would make it alive since, well, you know how Alex feels about the car. Not really his favorite thing to do. So a three hour car ride was taunting me. BUT we made it and it wasn't too bad... only one lil battle scar and he did it to himself. : ( He scratched his face in one of his full out fits, poor guy. Since he can't seem to sleep in the car but for about 30 minutes (seriously.), I sat in the back with him and did every funny face I could think of, I sang a million verses of "Wheels On The Bus" (his favorite these days), and fed him bottles even though I knew he wasn't starving- thank goodness for the car adaptor for the pump, what a great invention! Needless to say, I was exhausted by the end...and did it all over again on the way home! :)

Dont get me wrong, the trip was worth it. The weekend was a great time!! We stayed busy busy and had so much fun!

Saturday morning we went into Houston to do the Walk For Autism with Travis' cousin Holly. It was great but Alex didn't really think that being in his stroller was a good idea so he hitched a ride with Dad. Figures. (Don't ask how I am gonna get through my 5k in a couple of weeks! eek!) We were so glad that we could be there to support a wonderful cause and our wonderful family! We love you Zachary!!
The whole group- Zachary's Angels

Alex liked Zachary's Hair :)
I think Alex sucked his thumb the entire walk!
Dad was excited to see the Troopers and get Alex in on the Star Wars action!

We went to dinner at Lupe Tortillas! Mmmm! Alex is eyeing Leah's margarita

Alex took a bath and got his foot WAY in his mouth...super fun! haha

GrandDot came over on Sunday morning to meet her Great-Grandbaby for the first time!

Alex loved being at Grandpa Steve and Honey's house!

Not so sure about Dexter yet, but intrigued :)

5 Months Old

Alex is now 5 months old! The teddy pic this month was a little more difficult. It was actually quite comical so I have included some of the outtakes. I had to do it on my own, since Travis was out of town for a few days, and that made it even more difficult. As you can see, Alex is now a man of curiosity and movement.

There's that foot!

Whoa buddy!

Oh, soft chair!

But it tastes so good!

You gotta love me!

Alex still needs to work on his sitting skills :) poor Mya was not happy with him....and he was rolling all over poor lil Mary Jane, our newborn (!!) of the group, in the other. Its always a fun time and we are so thankful for the friends to play with!

Baby Dedication

So last weekend was the baby dedication at our church. It was kinda last minute for us since we missed a few weeks and became out of the loop. (oops) As you will see, there were a lot of babies to dedicate!
Travis did a beautiful job of introducing our family and praying over Alex. Alex did a great job on stage and was very well behaved. I was so thankful considering he didn't have a nap that morning. He only "talked" during the prayer...he was talking to Jesus. :)
We went to a celebratory lunch and before I could get some solo shots of the honoree, he pooped up his back (look for the pic), and there went the nice outfit! :) Figures.
At the end of the slideshow there are what I like to call "party pics"...we had a lot of fun passing the lil guy around! being goofy!
Alex has so many people in his life that truly love him and in turn will show him Gods love. He is so blessed!
We missed those of you that couldn't make it! Hope this helps you feel like you were there in a way. Thanks to my Dad, we have the whole thing captured photojournalism style...he loves pictures to say the least! :)

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139:13-15

"Hear O Israel: The Lord our God is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on their children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."Deuteronomy 6:4-7

Alex's 1st Movie

Our playgroup decided to "step it up" and start doing outings on the off week of playgroup. Our first outing was to Baby Day at Alamo Drafthouse (first show of the day on Tuesdays). I had been wanting to go for a while but was too scared to go at it myself and wondered how Alex would do. Well, he never ceases to amaze me. He did sooo well!! I brought him in the carrier and set it in the seat next to me so he could "watch" the movie. He was so enthralled and liked it so much he was actually smiling at times. He loves our TV so I am not suprised that he really liked the big screen! :) Of course he didnt last in the carrier too long but was content on my lap, with just a lil wiggle time. He only cried a little when he was ready for his nap and I actually rocked him to sleep! It was great! Oh, but he did knock my burger into my lap (those new lil grabby hands!) and the bottom bun went to the floor- who needs all that bread anyway! :) Overall, a great way for Mom to get to see a movie and get a good lunch in at the same time! The concept is great- all moms with their lil babies in the theatre, noone cares if your baby cries bc we all are used to it and we know that ours will probably cry in moment too! I reccomend it for all the moms out there!
We saw The Women, since we knew our husbands would never go. Poor Alex. Not really what your want your 1st movie to be as a lil boy. He is always surrounded by my girly intrests. Travis mentioned that maybe I could turn on a little sports center during the day every once in a while. :) I know that soon enough it will be Transformers, Spiderman, and whatever else boys like??, so I have to take advantage of the time I have when it doesn't matter. :)

New skills for the resume!

I feel like Alex has just blossomed over the last week! It's all happened so fast! He has some new talents to add to the resume! :)
  • We are blowing spit bubbles! I know, this is Harvard material right?! But it is a big deal to us. He looks like such a little boy, entertaining himself, making funny noises. It is quite cute! Just try not to smile!! This morning I awoke to a beautiful medley of noises over the monitor. That is a wake up call I could get used to! :)
  • He can roll over from his back to tummy!! Last week he did it Houdini style when I wasn't looking and I freaked out! Turns out he was using his dangling toys on the play mat to help him pull over. So we started "practicing" a little. Then this weekend he started doing it without any help, and now he is a pro! I can't keep him on his belly! We were at the bookstore yesterday and he was very wiggly and getting heavy so I decided to lay him down in the isle for a minute (on a burp cloth and since no one was around). As I am looking for books, I notice he flipped over no problem! I turned him over again, and he flipped over within a second! Lil booger just loves it! He is ITCHING to crawl and making big headway everyday.

  • He is really reaching for things! He wants whatever we have in our hands and he is getting better at making contact! :) We are gonna have to adjust to this new skill. He is also going after his toys more. This is another reason I think he wants to crawl so badly. He also puts everything in mouth. Travis and I had to laugh at him trying to pull the cloth block tower thingy (very scientific name people!) on his exersaucer toward his open mouth and not even being close- but the mouth was open and ready! Bless his heart! I had to help him out it was so sweet! I think he might be teething ?? We will see!
  • He can also touch his toes! Its too too cute! I am excited because oddly enough, between holding his feet and blowing bubbles, he is quite easily entertained! :) This is truly a wonderful age where Alexander has been oh so happy to just about do anything!

I told Alex to stop growing up so fast!! but I don't think he will listen.
