Lights Camera Action!

Are you ready for some home movies!? Well, we got a new computer last week and so now I can capture our videos. I am just playing with it and learning (its no wedding video dad!) but I will get better. I am just glad I figured it out! So yes, today's video is a little boring....but oh so cute when the star of the show is so sweet, if you ask me! I promise to do more interesting ones in the future.
This is a typical morning for us here at the house...still in pjs, hanging out, enjoying the AC. :) I am sure playing in the blinds is a major safety hazard or something, but I always sit with him and he just likes the noise of them banging the window- I mean, look how happy he is! Please excuse the cheesy mom voice- note to self: learn how to silence the sound :)

Deep Thoughts from a Deep Mom

Just some questions I have been asking myself lately...

Why do I walk on eggshells to keep quiet when Alex is sleeping? Going as far as chopping onions, in my mini chopper, in the garage! :)

Why does Alex always seem to wake up when I take one bite of my food? or when the water turns off from the shower? Its like he knows.

I wonder if I could get a mani/pedi while I sleep. (We finally cut Alex's nails this weekend for the first time! I know...it was way overdue! The lil cougar had some nails on him but we were scared to do it. Travis stepped up to the plate like a champ! and the lil guy slept right through it! success!)

Why does the yard guy come to mow right by Alex's window right at nap time every week? Are you kidding me?

Who signed me up to recieve Parenting magazine and Baby Talk magazine? I love it and don't know who to thank! I highly recommend these reads- great articles that read my mind, like God sent them to me to answer my questions and talk to me. :)

Why are these Pepperidge Farm Soft Hoagies so soft!? (My new fave best buy- better than going out! For real! haha)

What does Alex dream about? What is he dreaming when he is smiling or even giggling in his sleep?

How did this baby get so darn cute?!

Should I even take a shower today?

Whats for dinner? Any suggestions!?

I wonder how long I have until Alex wakes up. I can't believe he is still sleeping!

Where did the time go?

How can I go through that many burp clothes so fast!? Didn't I just do laundry?

Who will win HGTVs Design Star? Why did Will get the boot off So You Think You Can Dance when he was obviously the best one on the show!? And why can't Project Runway run new episodes daily?

Why do you cry so hard when I take you out of the bathtub Alex? Is it because you are tired, cold, hungry...what? Do you just love bath time that much?! Or does mommy not pull you out "right" and she stinks at drying you off?

On that same note, why do you hate your carrier so much? Why must we scream everytime we are in the car? I know!...just go to sleep in peace :) It would be so nice for you!

And finally,
Why does Alex think it is so funny to poop in the diaper I just put on him? Spit up on the outfit I just put on him? and pee while I am mid diaper change? ....He loves to get his momma good!

My Baby Love

Well, we went to our 2 month check up yesterday. It went well. Here are the official stats:
Height- 22 3/4 in 25-50 percentile
Weight- 13 lbs 10 oz 75-90 percentile
Head- 40 25-50 percentile
The doctor was very impressed with his strength and growth. Way to grow Alex! :)

The sad part was that he got 2 of his vaccines. This was very difficult for Mommy. I cried. He cried. We held each other. He got two lil Tasmanian devil band aides on his chubby lil thighs. :( He actually did a good job and fell asleep quickly after. He was really tired which helped.
We have struggled with the idea of even giving Alex his vaccines at all (given all the controversy), but we have opted for an alternative, more spread out, schedule. And we are picking which ones we want to give him. Who knows what is right or safe...we can only pray that the Lord will take care of Alex and guide us in the right direction. I do know that it was not fun and I am not looking forward to more shots. As, I am sure, Alex is not either.

Really TOO big for the baby bath tub!
Sweet dreams
There were just too many cute pictures to pick one so I put a bunch in the slide show. He was having so much fun! This is a fun stage and I really enjoy hanging out with my bud.

Dinner AND a Movie...what a treat!

Who knew it would be such a big deal to get to go to dinner AND the movies! That used to be a weekly event! And this wasn't even in the same night but I am counting it!

It was a dream come true...Ruth came in to babysit so we could go out for our anniversary. This was our first time to leave Alex with someone else- his first babysitter! :) We are so grateful for Ruth because this was much needed! It was so nice to get dressed up, brush my hair, put on full makeup- all things of the past sadly! :) Who knew I could smell good again for longer than a minute! We had great conversation and great food- most importantly we were together and uninterrupted! It was so refreshing. We went to Cool River and it was fabulous! We never splurge like that, and we even got cheesecake for dessert just to stuff ourselves! mmmm! We weren't gone too long, but it was just long enough. It was a wonderful anniversary!

We actually wanted to use the babysitter as long as we had her so we went out on Saturday too, to the movies, to see The Dark Knight. We love going to the movies and this is something we have really been missing since Alex was born. This was a longer event so Ruth had to feed Alex a bottle, but she said it went really well. He was happy and he seemed as though he didn't even notice I was gone! ha! I did miss him terribly (I kinda wanted him to miss me!). This was the longest I had ever been away from him. It feels so good to hold and kiss him again! I am glad it went well though and we had a great time! Honey is the best and Alex loves being with her! (BTW, The Dark Knight was excellent! Five jalapeƱos! :) Thats the San Antonio rating my mom is always telling me that makes me laugh)

So not only did we use and abuse Ruth as babysitter, but we put her to work in the yard! She kept joking that doing yard work was the "price you pay" to get to be with Alex. Not true! :) But we are so thankful that she likes to work in the yard because we couldn't have done this project without her! We have been wanting to do this for a long time- we put in a bed and red tips along the back wall. They will hopefully grow up tall and full to help block out some of the road noise. It turned out so pretty! Travis and Ruth worked soo hard and it shows!! Thank you!

Four years ago...

Four years ago today I married my best friend. Time has flown by so fast!! I love you more and more everyday and I look forward to forever! I could not ask for a better husband, father to my son, and "teammate"! Thank you for putting up with me and loving me unconditionally. I love you more than anything!

As I put together this lil slide show (yes, its nice being a stay at home mom!) it brought back so many wonderful memories! Good times, good times. It also makes me laugh to see how thin and well rested we were! Its funny how just 2 months can take it out of ya!

Happy Anniversary Trav!

2 Months Old!

Alexander is officially two months old! Look how he has grown!

1 week

1 month

2 months

We finally captured his happy time! Adorable, right!?! It was a tag team effort.

Also, I am proud to announce...
We have had a few nights of 6 hours of sleep and dropped the middle of the night feeding! YEA!! Lets pray it continues and is not a fluke! Too bad I still wake up like clockwork. I actually dream, a very realistic dream, that I am feeding or burping him still. I actually woke up the other night, walked to his room, got a burp cloth, came back to my room, expecting to find the baby in my bed only to realize that he is sleeping soundly in his crib still. Thats when I "woke up"! I walked right past him in my sleep daze! Good thing I didnt wake him up! :) So if mom can just sleep 6 hours we will be good to go!

Fun Foto Friday

Well, our little man has a lot going on these days.
We went to the doctor on Monday because I was worried about his reflux. We got some medicine so hopefully it will help. The only problem is that Alex hates the medicine of course. I am taking a wild guess that it isn't quite as tasty as milk. Two times a day we have to try to squirt it in the back of his throat, while holding him down, hope that he doesn't spit it out (which normally he does), and see that awful break your heart frown face.
We also found out that he has mild eczema which is causing lil red bumps on his face and hair line. I was not too surprised since I have it and it runs in both families. It has been clearing up on its own, but we now have some cream for it if it does get worse.
Alex sneezes (the cutest sneeze you've ever seen no doubt) quite often these days. Its most always a three sneezer. Hoping its not due to the not so clean house :)
Alex now weighs a whopping 12lbs 10ozs...there is no question that he is eating! :) He is our lil sack of potatoes! I am trying to get him in as many of his cute outfits before he grows out of them!
Our joke is that Alex has a receding hair line. Well, its really no joke but quite funny looking. Jeff affectionately called it George Costanza hair. :) It is slowly falling out but is creeping down in a slow line. I am not gonna lie, I wanted to cut the long hairs in the back. No one wants their baby to have a mullet! Fortunately, it is going fast and will be all out soon. :) And he now has the softest peach fuzz on top...perfect for kissing!

Alex is sucking on his hand now. He cant do it on purpose, I don't think, but if its there- hey, cool!
Since I posted last about his sleeping through the night he has had some great nights! They are still inconsistent but I have had sessions of 4 1/2 and 5 hours. Thats great for me! He is also getting so fast at eating that I really don't get to watch much tv at night any more! Bittersweet :)
He still loves to be held. He hates his carrier. Loves the baby bjorn- especially with Dad. Loves being outside. Loves to look in the mirror during his baths. He can hit at the dangle toys on the play mat and seems to like it a lot. He can now watch ceiling fans and be totally entertained! His favorite place though is his changing table! If he is fussy, we can put him there and its all smiles- like night and day! :) Go figure. Of course that would be his fav since I have to stand there next to him. ugh. He is smiling, laughing, and grinning more and more. It brightens my day! I like to say that it is because of me (and my beautiful singing-ha!).

We recently started to try a stricter schedule of eat, play, nap. (yes, mom said enough is enough, haha) I am letting him cry himself to sleep. I was so scared to do this because the boy can really wail! but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and very quickly Travis and I saw the extreme benefits. We actually have time together, can eat together, and talk! Wow, what a concept :) Mom is way happier too- I am not completely exhausted at the end of the day! We are still flexible, but this is has been a great start!

*Oops I forgot (add to original post): He is also using his hands more. He can grab tight on your shirt, hair, or even skin you didn't think it was possible to grab onto. This has made nursing a little more interesting.

You want a picture Mom? I'll give you a picture! Huh!

Happy Belated Fourth of July!

We had a great fourth of July! Jo and Vinnie moved into their new place in Round Rock! I am so excited to have them so close! It would have been nice just to have them in Texas, but to have them 10 min away is unbelievable! Its going to be a lot of fun, and I am sure we will have many more family events like this! Our parents came up to help them move in and celebrate the fourth. We had them all over for dinner where Travis cooked fajitas and we had margaritas! Then we went to see fireworks! It wasn't exactly what we expected but we had a great time! It was super windy and Alex really liked it. Although after a while we had to bundle him up to protect him and help him sleep.
Hope you all had a fabulous holiday! and Happy Birthday America! :)

Gigi!

Alex's Gigi (pronounced gee-gee, stands for Great Grandmother, its my mom's mom) came to visit with my parents and my brother too! I am so glad that Alex has a Gigi like I did! He actually has a great grandpa and great grandma in California too! What a lucky boy! :) We had a great day filled with lots of smiles, hugs, and kisses! Even got in a nap with Papa Wes!

Four Generations!

Papa Wes (yes, "Worlds Greatest Grandpa"- along with Grandpa Steve of course!) had to get in his play time too! It hasn't happened since week 1! Needless to say, he was dying! :)
