Surprise!

We had two surprises this weekend!

My mom is turning 60 in a few weeks so we decided to throw her a surprise party at her house. It was a success and so much fun! We had a great turn out with so many of her friends and family! It was a Hawaii theme because she loves it so much!

The other surprise was that Alex got very very sick. Travis stayed home with him so I could go to the party. Little did he know that Alex's high fever wouldn't subside and he would end up taking him to the doctor at 8 oclock at night! Travis earned his Mr. Mom patch for sure!! After he cleaned throw up out of the high chair, he earned his medal! :) I was so worried about not being there that I drove back that night to be with my baby and relieve Travis so he could sleep. Turns out that Alex had a double ear infection, and bad. He was so lethargic and just wanted to sleep in my arms all day on Sunday. Good news is that he is feeling 100% better and his ears are looking great according to the doc...Bad news is that we think he is allergic to the medicine because he broke out yesterday. We are going to stop taking it and see what happens. Never a dull moment, right?!

Austin Childrens Museum

Monday we ventured downtown to the Childrens Museum. They have a Baby Bloomers program on Mondays for 3 and under kiddos. We had several friends meet us down there which was really fun! The museum is so nice and has a ton of stuff to do(more for big kids, but still cool). Alex and I were both worn out by the time we left! (The actual Baby Bloomers program- storytime, song and dance, and lab- not too impressive, just fyi.)

his favorite thing in the whole place! could have stayed there for hours!
smelling spices with our friend Jack
("Dude, did you check out the chocolate?!")
my rockstar
this is our friend RJ...well, what you can see of him! ha!!

crawling through the tunnel with our friend Henrick
Alex really liked this and did it over and over again...works for me!

First Night Away

Well, our anniversary trip was a success! First off I have to say that I am so sad because I don't have any pictures! Yep, not a one! I forgot my camera! ugh... So here are a few from the web. We stayed at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort near Bastrop. It was amazing! (and it should be for the price you pay.) It was a very special treat for us. We had a great time stuffing ourselves at the buffets and sipping cold adult beverages by the pool and in the lazy river. I wanted to read more but we happened to sit next to Talkie McTalkerson and her husband- like seriously, non-stop ALL afternoon! I pretty much know how they feel about everywhere they have ever traveled. I cant focus on reading with all that yapping. Its okay. They couldn't rain on my parade! It was just so nice to be free of responsibility and no schedule! and to spend such quality time with Travis. It felt like old times. The resort is so nice and has so much for families to do, it was teeming with babies and kids. It was fun but reminded me of Alex often. Travis and I noticed though that the families are all so cute, well groomed, well behaved children, etc....it was like out of a movie! It makes family life look oh-so-attractive. My favorite part is that they do a movie on the lawn at night. They put out blankets and give out popcorn. With the breeze off the river, huge pecan trees, stars, and little lights from the lobby... it was just too perfect.

As far as back home....Alex did great! Well, as long as Honey was telling the truth. ;) She said he was happy and didn't cry a bit. I know he had so much fun with his grandparents! He didn't sleep all night but I wasnt too surprised- just feel bad for Ruth. Thanks again Honey and Grandpa Steve! And I only had Travis call to check in twice! ;)
We all survived! and a good time was had by all! A success! I mean, maybe we should have stayed a little longer!

1, 2, Buckle my shoe

Alex is obsessed with buckles lately...the car seat, the stroller, the booster seat, the swing...we brought the swing down for him to play with on the ground and he loved it! couldn't tear him away for a few days! I love seeing him study the buckles so intently and being focused on something for longer than a minute! He cant actually do the buckles. He just likes to try and messes with them.
what a face, right?! what a cheeser!

and just too cute to not post...worn out from being at the park! lovin' him some tv! did this all on his own! and quiet for a LONG time!

Its A Boy!

Our very good friends Paige and Ryan had their baby this morning! They decided to not find out the sex of the baby so it was very exciting to find out that they had a sweet baby boy!

We are so excited for them and wish them the best in these exciting (and tough) days ahead!

5 Years

Happy Anniversary Babe! I do...cherish you...

Click here to see the slideshow I made last year.

I am so excited! We are going away to a lil resort for a night to celebrate. This is my first night away from Alex and I have mixed emotions of course. I am so thankful that Honey is coming to care for him and I know he will be just fine! Travis and I are looking forward to some much needed alone time (by the pool!) :)

Alex gave me a little anniversary gift by sleeping all through the night last night!! Best gift ever! Lets pray that it will be the norm from now on!

Wean, Wean, I'm a Wean-er

Alex is officially weaned. Waa-hoo! I am free! Let me celebrate by eating, drinking, and wearing whatever I want!...Yet, really I am sad at the same time! I will miss our special time together. But we are getting in lots of good cuddle time to make up for it! I am so proud of us both though, for making it through the rough times and I have to thank Travis for making it really possible- he stepped up at bedtime and nighttime to ease the transition. Overall, Alex has done really well and made it pretty easy.
his serious face

14 Months and going going going!
for the record...

He is pointing at things now.
He will sign for "all done" (well, most of the time).
He does his little version of blowing kisses.
He is in the "handing everything to you" stage- just say thank you! and take it
He got his 7th tooth this weekend! I am pretty sure number 8, and maybe his molars, are close behind.
He learned how to climb up the slide and can kind of go down on his own. He only thinks he can go down the big one at the park on his own :)

Fourth Of July

We had a Festive Fourth with Family, Fajitas, Fireworks, and Fun! Last year we celebrated with Jo and Vinnie too- it was their moving in weekend! I can't believe they have been here a year!

Auntie Jo getting some good laughs on the swing! She's the best!

The Boys

At the park ready for the show! (I think I was cheering for it to start...it was so very very hot! and even hotter when you are chasing someone around!)

Alex really liked the fireworks! He was so still sitting in my lap and had his eyes glued on the sky. He wasn't afraid of the noises and only fussed the tiniest bit when there was a dull spot in the show. I am so glad he got to see them! It was a real late night for us- normally he is in bed way earlier but he had been on a late night schedule for the last couple of nights so I just went with it so we could go. It worked out great!

AND...The Soon To Be Parents! Yep, that's right! Jo is expecting!! Baby C due in December and we are sooo excited about having a new little one in the family! Its going to be so fun! Congrats guys!!

Swim Lessons

Here is a little bit from swim lessons. Of course this was not his best day...we were in the cold water (in stead of the warm therapy pool), there was a lot going on around us, and he is teething (hence the hand in mouth). Kinda hard to focus on swimming with all that! But I am so proud of him and he has officially graduated! :) It will always be such a precious memory for me of some special mother-son bonding.

The Class (RJ was absent that day)
practicing holding on to the side...Alex never really got that, oh well.
warming up! and waiting for mommy like a good boy!

Thanks Auntie Jo for your great camera work! :) She also took us to swim that day since my car had two flat tires!...sigh.
