giggle giggle

Here is a clip of Alex laughing...well, then it quickly changes to screaming. He is funny that way. Can you tell when it changes?! What can I say, my child is very vocal. But I love when he laughs- so sweet and so pure.

Play Hard, Nap Hard

Alex had his first playgroup last week. He had so much fun and played so hard! He never stays up that long but he really liked watching the other moms and babies. He is actually the youngest and the only boy (well, the other boy didn't make it this time). Travis was sure to mention that there need to be other boys in the group to make sure Alex doesn't grow sissy or something- ha! Well, he was so tired at the end that he conked out! We had to get a picture it was so cute! He never sleeps like this! We were still both so tired that afternoon, we took real long naps! I don't take naps often, but that was a good one! It was so good for both of us to get out and have some fun!

Alex had so much fun in Emma's exersaucer that we decided to buy one this weekend. Alex loves it! He can just touch the bottom on his tippy toes. He doesn't touch or move the pieces really but he loves to just look at everything. I am excited to have a new toy/activity on the new rotation! It helps wear him out too!

Sunday we went to our community pool for the first time. It was so funny because normally there is no one there but when we drove up we realized that there were 2 parties going on. There was a birthday party for a 6 year old and a 7th grade back to school party (gotta love watching middle schoolers). We had made such an effort to get there, that there was no turning back! Turned out we just had our own party in the baby pool and we had a lot to watch. Alex LOVED it! He loves the water! And it wore him out!! He fell asleep when we got home and he barely got up to have his last feeding. We just might be frequenting the pool more often!

Back To School Blues

I am a little sad today thinking about all the teachers and kids out there going back to school. I always liked the first days of school (too bad there is much more to the package deal). The clean pretty room, new supplies, new kids, refreshed from the summer, and of course, the new clothes. :) This will be my first time in 22 years to NOT go to school! It feels a little strange. I know that Alex and I will have so much fun staying home together and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity. Don't we all wish that we could have it all!? Have your cake and eat it too! Well, Alex better get his pencil ready because Mom might have some teacher withdrawals!
Thank you to all of the HARDWORKING teachers out there! Have a fabulous year! May your room stay clean and organized, your kids be sweet, no one pees in their pants, and everyone gets on the right bus! :)

To Grandmothers House We Went

Last weekend (I am playing catch up!) Alex and I hit the road and headed for San Antonio to stay with Nani and Papa Wes. I was nervous for the car ride, later to find out, for good reason. He did good and fell asleep pretty quick. He slept soundly to my cd of ocean waves (Thanks Christy!!) till about San Marcos. You might be saying to yourself "thats great!" but think again because that means we still have a ways to go! "Oh no, Oh no, Oh no" I say to myself. He was not happy and it got ugly fast! And I don't think he wanted to go to the outlet mall. I decided to try to pull over and get gas and comfort the child that was "dying" in the back seat. Seriously, you would have thought there was some major torture going on. I finally get to a gas station (of course there wasn't one close by). I decided to leave the car running since it was so hot and I just went and got in the back seat to get Alex out. Well I comforted the lil guy and he was all smiles almost immediately. Lil toot. When it came time to go ahead and pump the gas, I went for the door only to realize that the child safety lock was in effect and I was locked in. Great! Can I reach the button on the driver door from the back seat? Close, but nope! Oh my gosh, I cant believe this is happening to me. Picture this, a girl crawling over the carrier, between the front chairs, climbing onto the drivers chair to get out of the car. What a looser! haha!! It was pretty funny! I am just glad I didn't have to get someones attention to get me out! Oh, the memories with Alex.
Anyway, I got gas and told Alex to get excited because its back in the seat and on the road. He was not happy and screamed for the next 15 minutes. FINALLY, he fell back asleep and slept till we got to the house. I never thought San Antonio was that far until now. All I could think about was the ride home on Sunday. Dear Lord, please be with me!
We had a fabulous time visiting though! We got to see my good girlfriends and even baby Isabella. Playing with Nani and Papa Wes was so fun and they have so much to look at at their house. Papa Wes even babysat for me so I could go see Mama Mia with my Mom. (Great movie BTW! I love a good musical!) He had to do a diaper change "try out" before he was allowed to babysit and he passed! Good thing too because Alex gave him a "good one" that required an outfit change too! No easy task! :) Overall, it was a great time and we look forward to many more fun visits!! I am so thankful that he does so well at new places!
The drive home was not too bad. It got rough in the middle again but I just tried to push through the pain. :)
Home sweet sweet home. I will treasure the memories and pray for this stage to be over. Meanwhile, I might have to get some earplugs. :)

Ga-ga for G.A.

When we got home from the lake a few weeks ago, we got to visit with Alex's Great Aunt Martha- "G.A."! She is a dedicated Team Isaacson fan and we are so glad! It was so fun to see her and Alex was a sweetheart! She came all the way from Oklahoma and was on a tour of Texas visiting family all around the state. My parents drove her up to see us, which was a good excuse for them to see Alex too! They were trying very hard to wait their turn to hold Alex! :) We also went to dinner at this cool place- Mongolian Grill- very fun! Pick out what veggies, meat, and seasoning you want and they cook it up for you. Mmmm!

3 Months

Alex is now 3 months old! He is growing up so fast! He has changed so much over the last month and it has been so fun getting to see him learn new things and take in the world around him. I think he weighs about 14.5 lbs! Yes, he is a big boy!
Here are my top 10 things to remember for the month-

1. Alex loves meeting all new people, but seems to really favor girls/women. The picture says it all. Thanks Miss Julie for the funny onesies! I had no idea they would be so true! haha

2. His favorite time of day is in the morning. He is most happy and starts smiling almost immediately after waking up. Sometimes he even has a hard time eating because he is smiling!

3. He loves to smile now and even laughs the sweetest giggle at times- it will melt your heart for sure! Letting him stand up on his feet in your lap is a good way to get him to smile.

3. Alex is 3 months going on 3 years! He is a mover to say the least. Nobody is gonna hold him down! He is constantly wiggling and wants to be free! Dont worry, he will let you know if he doesn't want to be somewhere. He is so close to rolling over (but no cigar) and has learned how to "scoot" around inch worm style quite well. He works really hard! :)

4. He still has pretty bad reflux and we are still on medicine twice a day. He is good at taking it and sometimes I think he likes it ??! maybe he just likes the praise he gets! We still go through a lot of burp cloths everyday!

5. He is really "talking" now! He has found his voice is not afraid to use it! He makes sweet coo noises and some loud screamers. I think he is anxious to really talk! Yesterday he was making the sweetest conversation with the teddy bear hanging from his carrier in the car. This was a shocking first since he still HATES the car!

6. He still HATES the car! yet, we seemed to rise to the challenge and took him on two road trips this month! We have sworn that we will not be going anywhere else anytime soon. :)

7. He can't hold his head up for good yet- he can do it a long time but is not quite ready for things like the bumbo and exersaucer. He starts strong and wilts like a flower. He has noticed his toes due to this exercise and is very intrigued. So he really liked these sneaker socks! Aren't they the cutest!?! Thanks again Miss Julie for the precious socks! He's ready to run!

8. He only graced me with those two nights of full sleep, but is still doing pretty well with only one night feeding on most nights. I really can't complain.

9. Alex has unfortunatley found the TV and loves watching the olympics! :) Go USA! And we are actually up to watch in the middle of the night too! hehee

10. He does not take a pacifier well, eventhough we have tried and tried. He does love his fist and is remarkably able to put most of it in his mouth. I think he will find that thumb soon though!

As far as a mom update-
I have to say that I am so excited for myself- I got back in my pre-pregnancy clothes this month and it feels so good! Have I been working out, you ask...no way! Dieting? Psh, please. Its the no work-out work-out....breastfeeding! LOVE IT!! I didn't ever think I would say that those first few weeks!

Some fun in the sun!

Well, we made it! We are at home sweet home! The lake trip was a success! We had a great time and Alex did so well! We were so happy, that he was so happy! Really, I think he liked it better there than at home with boring 'ol mom! There were plenty of people to hold him, play with him, and look deeply into their eyes. :) He loved being outside under the trees and he loved the house with all the many many lake themed decorations covering the walls. He slept well and even slept through the night again on Sat! I couldn't have been happier! It was nice for me to get a way a little too. Ruth babysat so I could go out on the boat some. We swam, layed out (yes, my body was screaming for some sunlight, especially next to Miss Tan 2008, Leah Isaacson), and wakeboarded. Yes, I did...and I payed for it when Alex woke up at 4 the next morning to eat and I could barely get out of bed with my sore muscles and sun stressed body! But it was soo fun! :) The weekend was full with celebrating Aunt Leah's Birthday, washer games, junk food, grilling out, catching up on all the star gossip of People magazine, fishing, Mexican Train, reading books, watching the Olympics, morning coffee, and Alex swimming for the first time! The only bad part was my itchy arms and legs after the mosquitoes ate me up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! A small price to pay.
The horizontal stripes are not helping my figure mom...

but it's okay, I am still a happy boy!

Can you feel the love?

sitting on the dock, hanging out

Happy Birthday Leah!

Its all fun and games till Uncle Matt gets spit up on! haha!

The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Oooooowwweeeeee, oweeowumbuway!! haha! I just have to celebrate!!.... Alex slept all night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yahoo!!!!I feel like a million bucks! Even though I kept waking up confused :) and then I'd roll over and snooze without a problem!
He went down at about 9:15 and then woke up at 10 with a crazy yelping cry- we don't know, it was weird, ha. I got him back down quickly and then he slept till 7 am!!!
I am sure it was a crazy fluke, but it would be lovely to be graced with this again every once in a while.
Today we leave for our first overnight trip! We are headed off to Lake LBJ with the Isaacson family. I am very nervous about Alex and how he will handle it (3 nights away! yikes!), but I am looking forward to a getaway. :) Too bad I am packing the whole house for fear of any situation that might arise. Ha! No, I think I am doing good, but we will see if it all fits! We will surely be loaded down!
Maybe this night was Gods way of having me stock up on sleep before some rough nights??? lets hope not! :)
I am sure we will have a great time and I will be sure to post fun pics when we get back!
have a great weekend all!!

On Safari

It has been a while since we did a photo shoot so when I put Alex in this precious outfit today I was inspired. Actually, "T.I. Photography" (Travis) did the shooting and I was just the "lovely assistant". Thanks Mrs. Teri for such a cute outfit! I am so pleased with the pictures. They really captured his sweet spirit these days. He is so happy and loves to laugh, especially when standing or sitting up (with help of course). I can't get over how he looks like such a little boy!

Family Fun

We had a great time with the Wood Family this weekend! It was a special treat to have them stop in and visit on their way home from vacation. If you don't know the Wood family, you are missing out! They are a 7 person family, so wherever they go, its a party! :) They are my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins on my mom's side. The most well behaved, well mannered, coolest, and kind-hearted kids (and teens). It was so good to see everyone! The little ones, Ryan and Alyssa, LOVED Alex! It was so cute how they were so intrigued. Ryan especially! He was very complimentary: "His head is so soft. His feet are so soft. He is so cute. His feet are so cute. His shirt is so cute. His head is so cute." He kept one hand on Alex at all times (that he could). I wish I had had the video camera out it was so stinkin' cute! I think Alex really enjoyed meeting so many people and was very entertained! We just can't wait till Alex can "play" with his "cousins"! Right Ryan?! :)
