Sick Buddies

It's been a rough couple of days here at Team I. I was going to post on Tuesday about how proud I was that Alex went to the church nursery for the first time on Sunday, how cute he was in his church outfit, and how tough it was for me to focus during church. Unfortunately, I believe that church did us in. Alex started with a cough on Monday and it just escalated from there. By Monday night he was quite sick and had fever. On top of that, Mom got sick too. I felt horrible! Bad chills and aches and nausea. Travis really stepped up to help out and was amazing! He even stayed home from work on Tuesday to take care of his babies. :) I couldn't have made it without him. He totally took care of Alex, took him to the doctor (which is a feat in itself), took care of the bigger baby-Me!, and then also went to the store to get what we needed for remedies. He was a regular Mr. Mom and did a fabulous job. We started feeling a lil better yesterday but we still had our snotty issues and I still needed a lot of rest. I swear Alex gained 50 lbs I could barely pick him up. Nothing is worse than caring for a baby and not feeling well yourself. Alex was hilarious though- sick but smiling. You would never know the child didn't feel well most of the time. It always helps me get through the day to see that gummy grin- even when he is supposed to be napping! Even though I know its weird, I kinda think he so cute with his snotty nose and cute "fake sounding" cough. But we were sick buddies- we lay around together, stayed in pjs all day together, and even slept in the guest bed with the humidifier together. Oh, the bonding. :) Really, taking care of your sick child is very emotional. I would have done anything for him. I was holding him late on Monday night in the recliner while he tried to sleep through his stuffy nose and I teared up thinking of all the times my mom must have cared for me when I was sick. There is nothing like a mothers love and I finally felt what she must have felt all those times.

The good news, we are feeling better today. Better and better. Oh, and luckily the doc said it is just a cold virus. He should get through it fine and basically...let the war on snot begin!
*Those cute church pics will be out soon!
